Bio
Darcy Drew Greene is an Associate Professor in the School of Journalism. She has worked as a graphic designer and documentary photographer. She is interested in multimedia storytelling and the many ways in which information can be shared over the web.
She came to MSU in 1984 to teach photojournalism. Over time she has worked with faculty to expand the visual journalism curriculum to include print publication design, online web publishing, as well as print and interactive graphics.
In 2011 she received a HARP grant to do research in Brazil on thework of French photojournalist, Pierre Edouard Leopold Verger(1902-1996). Based on the research, she will travel to Benin, WestAfrica, to re-photograph the places, people and events found inVerger's photographs. An exhibition is expected in 2013.
She is a principal in the Communication Technology Laboratory where she has created major multimedia projects including, Completing A Life, a web site dealing with end-of-life issues.
Since 1995 she has been a co-advisor to the MSU affiliate of the International Society for News Design (SND). She is a past board member of the organization. She was an initiator of the Design Specialization and is a founding member of Intersect, a group dedicated to creative inquiry.
During the summers she co-directs Photo Communication in the U.K., Czech Republic and France, a Journalism course offered through MSU’s Study Abroad Program.
